Newsletter Marketing for small business; I hate doing it!  So, why do businesses continue dedicating resources to this practice?

As a dad with a young child, I hear the question, “But, why?” enough to get tired of answering it.  But, it’s not a bad idea for someone to question the reason why they are doing something which takes away from the other things they’d rather be doing instead.  And, business owners my want to ask the same thing of some of the tasks they are routinely performing, take eMail newsletters for example.

I am not a staunch advocate of the idea that, all businesses need to write a newsletter. But, this article is written for you if:

  1. You’d like your business to gain more credibility as being knowledgeable professionals by your target audience. -Or-
  2. You’d like to receive the benefits a published e-newsletter can deliver to your web content marketing strategy.

If you decided to write eMail Newsletters? Here are a couple of quick tips to make them a little more affective, and worth your time and effort.

As I just mentioned briefly, there are two primary reasons behind writing a newsletter as part of your business strategy.  Plus, there are also some other reasons, like, using them to get the reader back to your site’s landing page, where you may convert them from a prospect into a new customer.

In-case you missed it:

The 1st reason is to inform future clients of your expertise/professionalism in the industry by creating compelling and educational content.

Boring eMail NewsletterThe 2nd reason is as part of a web content strategy, your newsletter should also add written content to your website, this gives the search bots/spiders reasons to frequently index and better qualify your authority over those subjects you write about. Keep in mind that these two reasons are interdependent; one doesn’t out weigh the other.

Types of good qualities in a Newsletters:

  • Provide actionable information.
  • Not filled with come-ons and fluff.
  • Offer How To articles, Quick Tips, and links to template letters that can be utilized by your readers.
  • For readers interested in furthering relationships.
