U.S. Border Patrol agents seized about 5,000 pounds of marijuana in Falfurrias and more than 2,500 pounds in Sarita this week.
Agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint on Tuesday inspected a
tractor-trailer after a drug dog alerted them to the possibility of
contraband. They found nearly 5,000 pounds of marijuana that had an
estimated value of more than $3.9 million, officials said.
Agents assigned to the Kingsville station seized more than 2,500 pounds of marijuana Wednesday at the checkpoint near Sarita.
The drivers of the vehicles and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
