Question by Throwing Stones: California collects 11 million dollars in sales tax each year on sales of “medical marijuana”?
With America’s proclivity to want to get high and the real cost and failure of the “war on drugs” should we decriminalize pot and tax the sales? If weed is cheaper than meth, would tweekers switch to tokers, eliminating another problem. Billions of dollars in revenue would be generated and prisons would not be so crowded…..what do you think?

We can argue social policy until we can no longer stay awake and solve nothing.

What we do know, from experience, is that prohibition never works. The unintended consequences of prohibition are higher prices for the prohibited commodity and an illegal infrastructure to distribute same.

Drug prohibition is, and will continue to be, a total failure. The only question that remains is how much more money, time and dead bodies we are willing to sacrifice in our refusal to recognize reality.

BTW, I take no drug, save beer; but I did take several economics classes.
