Medical marijuana edibles should be filling Arizona dispensary shelves soon. The Arizona Department of Health Services has created a brief guideline–for what they call Infusion Kitchens or Infused Kitchens–for dispensaries that wish to infuse foods with medical marijuana.
Other states’ dispensaries carry a large variety of marijuana-infused foods and drinks: such as brownies, cookies, candies, sodas, teas, oils, and more. These marijuana-infused foods and drinks, also known as edibles or medibles, are perfect for patients who cannot smoke or choose not to smoke marijuana. Most states allow private companies to produce edibles, but in Arizona it appears the government is going to regulate the medical marijuana market by only allowing dispensaries to legally produce and sell edibles via their Infusion Kitchens.
Arizona dispensaries just need to submit a basic application to get approval status for their Infusion Kitchen to the Arizona Department of Health Services in order to begin producing and selling medical marijuana edibles. At the moment, it appears that Arizona will only allow edibles in the form of foods, and not drinks.
