The Las Vegas City Council, in a 5-1 vote, has approved marijuana consumption lounges. These lounges are similar to a bar, but with marijuana sales and consumption instead of alcohol. In Europe, these cannabis lounges are commonly known as “coffee shops.”
#lvcouncil voted to opt-in to the state’s process for the licensure of cannabis consumption lounges.
This is the first step in the process. A city ordinance will be introduced in the future.

Nearly 40 million tourists visit Las Vegas annually and many of them can’t conveniently consume marijuana while visiting. But when cannabis lounges open tourists will have a place to safely and legally use cannabis.
States such as Arizona and New Mexico would also benefit from legalizing adult-use marijuana lounges for locals and tourists to provide them with safe and legal establishments to use marijuana.
Nevada legalized recreational marijuana use in 2016.
