Block-long lines formed at many Massachusetts recreational marijuana dispensaries yesterday as they were allowed to reopen for the first time since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic required them to close in mid-March.
The dispensaries are now offering online ordering with curbside pick-up, CBS Boston reported.
“I thought that I could just show up and purchase something,” said one customer, who was unaware that orders needed to be placed online or by phone before picking up.
Governor Baker said that he didn’t allow the state’s marijuana stores to remain open during the peak of the outbreak because it would’ve attracted out-of-staters to visit the stores and possibly further spread of coronavirus.
If the state’s coronavirus infection rate continues to decrease, Baker will allow customers to shop inside of dispensaries at a limited capacity.
