The Israeli pharma-tech company Syqe Medical has released a new non-combustion inhaler for medical marijuana users.

The inhaler delivery system offers measured doses and remote clinical monitoring, HIT consultant reported. The company spent 8 years of research and development to perfect the technology and bring it to market.

“For too long, physicians who wish to treat [medical marijuana] patients have been without the most basic clinical knowledge on dosing, efficacy and adverse events of cannabis,” said Syqe Medical.  “For eight years, Syqe has been developing proprietary technologies for the administration of raw plants, and through our clinical trials, we were able to determine the recommended dosage of inhaled cannabis down to the microgram. This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter in pain treatment, one in which physicians can confidently prescribe precise dosages of cannabis, and patients can reap the rewards, effectively and responsibly.”

For now, the inhalers will be available to Israeli medical marijuana patients.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
