Biden

Presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden has firmly said that he doesn’t support federal marijuana legalization. Biden still believes that marijuana is a “gateway drug,” even though this stereotypical myth has been disproven.

His outdated views have been slammed by many, including Senator Cory Booker, Yahoo reported.

Biden said, “It’s a debate. Before I legalize it nationally, I want to know a lot more about the science behind it.”

Fortunately, Biden does support states’ rights when it comes to medical and recreational legalization.

Most of the other Democratic candidates support national marijuana legalization. Biden is losing votes from millions of younger, pro-marijuana Americans because of his antiquated stance on the issue.

“Nationally, I’m not prepared to push for legalization,” Biden said. “I need more data to make that judgment.”

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
