Marijuana is rather new to many people in the United States. Therefore, there is a need for education when it comes to the types of marijuana strains because each strain produces different medicinal benefits.
There are two main strains of marijuana: Indica and Sativa. Furthermore, when the two strains are combined, you get a Hybrid strain.
Indica strains are relaxants and are effective at treating symptoms of medical conditions such as anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, temors, and muscle spasms. Indicas usually have a higher level of cannabinoids than Sativas, which results in a sedated body high. Because Indicas sometimes cause feelings of sleepiness, many medical marijuana patients prefer to medicate with this Indicas at night.
Sativa strains have more of a stimulant effect and help with relieving depression, migraines, chronic pain, nausea, and increasing appetite. Sativas have a higher level of THC than Indicas, which create a psychoactive, energetic high. Because many Sativas cause feelings of alertness and optimism, many medical marijuana patients prefer to medicate with Sativas during the day.
Hybrid strains of Indica and Sativa strains produce a variety of characteristics from each parent. For instance, adding a Sativa to an Indica strain usually increases mental clarity and decreases relaxation effects. And adding an Indica to a Sativa strain can decrease or even eliminate the Sativa’s tendency to cause anxiety.
