A special use permit for a proposed medical marijuana dispensary has been recommended for approval by the Paradise Valley Planning Commission. If approved by the City Council, on medical marijuana dispensary will be able to rent office space at the Mountain View Medical Center, at Tatum and Shea boulevards.

Paradise Valley is allowed one marijuana dispensary under the state rules, but the city is primarily a residential community and has limited commercial space available for such a business.

The planning commission has requested a traffic study and an enhanced security plan. The plan will require the dispensary applicant to have a security guard on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week as well as constant camera surveillance.

If approved, the special use permit will likely be one of the most secure facilities in Arizona. “The volunteer commissioners have spent countless hours on this, reviewing this application, with our primary concern the safety of our residents, stated Commission Chairwoman Maria Syms.
