Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk excited his 35 million Twitter followers this weekend when he tweeted: “This will probably get me into trouble, but I feel I have to say it.”
Later, on the same day, Musk tweeted his thought, Business Insider reported.
The tweet said, “Selling weed literally went from major felony to essential business (open during pandemic) in much of America & yet many are still in prison. Doesn’t make sense, isn’t right.”
The tweet ended up not being troublesome whatsoever because a vast majority of Americans support the legalization of marijuana. Furthermore, many of those supporters believe people should be freed now that the drug is legal in so many states.
Nearly every state that has legalized marijuana has deemed their medical and recreational dispensaries as “essential” during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Meanwhile, the federal government still lists marijuana alongside heroin as a Schedule I substance.
