Boston Marijuana

Recreational marijuana sales began in two Massachusetts cities on November 20. Only two dispensaries have opened, but three more recreational retailers have been approved to open.

The first day of sales totaled $440,000, according to WCVB 5 News. In the first five days, the stores brought in over $2.2 million.

Since opening, NETA, one of the dispensaries, reports serving about 2,000 customers daily.

Amanda Rositano of NETA said, “I think this is such a historic moment where adults can finally purchase cannabis legally that I think there’s so much excitement around it.”

Medical marijuana patients do have an advantage by not having to wait in the long line as recreational customers.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
