The Justice Minister of New Zealand, Andrew Little, has announced that New Zealanders will be able to vote on recreational marijuana in 2020. The referendum will be included on general election ballots with a simple yes or no option.

Home cultivation would be legal, but limited, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. New Zealand intends to legalize marijuana in a way that minimizes harm to the general public while destroying the black market.

Medical marijuana was legalized last year in New Zealand.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
