Just days after CVS announced it would be selling CBD products in 800 of its stores, Walgreens makes a similar announcement.

Walgreens plans to offer CBD products in 1,500 of its stores in the U.S., CNBC reported.

“After a thorough review and analysis, we will be offering certain products containing Cannabidiol (CBD) in nearly 1,500 Walgreens stores in select states (OR, CO, NM, KY, TN, VT, SC, IL and IN),” Walgreens stated. “The CBD-related items we are planning to carry are non-THC containing topical creams, patches and sprays.  This product offering is in line with our efforts to provide a wider range of accessible health and wellbeing products and services to best meet the needs and preferences of our customers.”

Walgreens will sell CBD in these states:

  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • New Mexico
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Vermont

Walgreens’ spokesman Brian Faith said, “This product offering is in line with our efforts to provide a wider range of accessible health and wellbeing products and services to best meet the needs and preferences of our customers.”

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
