Edible Marijuana

Edible marijuana manufacturers met last Thursday in Golden, Colorado with health officials and other state regulators to try and “hash-out” a plan for higher standards in regards to marijuana-infused foods (edibles) in Colorado.

It is likely, that many other states will follow the marijuana edibles standards that are created in Colorado.

Some of the new regulations will include a warning label system that will urge users not to ingest too much marijuana at once. Edibles will also require a marking that will state that it is not for children as well as its potency level. Currently, marijuana edibles are sold in serving sizes of 10 milligrams of THC with the maximum amount of servings being capped at 10 per container. This new proposal would require that each of those 10 servings be individually wrapped inside the container.

Rachel Obrian, of SMART Colorado says, “I think it’s a decent compromise.” SMART is a group assembled on the idea that legal marijuana might be too accessible for people under the legal age.

Many people on the production side of marijuana edibles fear that this could become costly as well as unrealistic in regards to specific products. Infused products like marijuana sodas and teas would be unable to be divided for obvious reasons.
The new labeling law wouldn’t go into effect until 2016.

⚡️

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
