Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center Arizona

Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center has announced the opening of a location in Avondale. This with be their third Valley location.

Grand opening for the new office, located at 10320 W. McDowell Rd, Suite B2006, will be on April 6, 2017. Special grand opening pricing of $75 for a doctor certification fee is being provided at the Avondale location.

“We have been advocating for and educating patients in the Phoenix metropolitan area since 2011,” said Dr. Elaine Burns, Medical Director of Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center, “and we have built a stellar reputation based on our commitment to the highest standards of care for our patients. This Avondale office is in response to the many patients from the west side who rely on us and have long asked us to bring our service closer to home.”

With the addition of the Avondale office, Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Centers are now available to patients in south Scottsdale, North Phoenix and the west valley. The new office is located on the NW corner of 103rd Avenue and McDowell Road next to the ReMax Realty in suite B2006.

Dr. Burns, an Arizona-licensed and board-certified Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), is the founder and Medical Director of the Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center. She has been instrumental in building an ethical, highly professional medical marijuana industry in Arizona since 2011. As the state’s first Certified Expert in Cannabis Medicine, Dr. Burns has been integral in setting professional standards within Arizona’s medical marijuana community. Those standards have become a hallmark of the treatment patients can expect at Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center.

In addition to a Mobile Unit that travels around the state, Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation Center is located in north Phoenix at 12620 N. Cave Creek Road, Suite 7, in south Scottsdale at 8010 E. McDowell Road, Suite 105 and now in Avondale at 10320 W. McDowell Rd, Suite B2006.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
