Arizona Dispensary Offering 22% Discount for Veterans Year-Round

Veterans Cannabis
The Mint dispensary is providing veterans with a year-round 22% discount. The Mint designated its veterans discount at 22% because 22 veterans lose their battle to post-traumatic stress disorder in the U.S. every day.

With nearly half a million Veterans living in Arizona, focusing on Veterans’ issues is critical to the Mint team, especially given the disproportionate rates of post-traumatic stress disorder, unemployment and homelessness among those who have served and sacrificed.

Additionally, it is estimated that 30 percent of first responders develop behavioral health conditions including, but not limited to, depression and [PTSD], as compared with 20% in the general population. Police officers in particular face a 54% greater risk of suicide than the general population. In 2022, 180 police officers took their own lives, nearly three times the number shot and killed in the line of duty.

“It is time that we recognize the psychological toll that Veterans and First Responders face,” said Eivan Shahara, CEO of Mint Cannabis. “Job-related stress, trauma, physical demands, and long hours have real psychological consequences. While the stresses are relentless, members of our military and first responders are supposed to be ‘tough.’ The perceived stigma surrounding mental health problems keeps many from seeking help.”

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff.
