Food Bank Arizona

Arizona legalized cannabis for medical use in 2010 and for recreational use in 2020. It is legal for Arizona medical marijuana patients and anyone 21 or older to buy cannabis products from Arizona dispensaries.

According to Feeding America, it is projected that 42 million people — including 13 million children — are at risk of food insecurity.

To help address this, Curaleaf, a leading cannabis provider in Arizona, has re-launched its Feed the Block program through its Corporate Social Responsibility platform Rooted In Good.

Feed The Block is a fundraising initiative in which proceeds will benefit 2 Arizona food banks – Nourish AZ and United Food Bank – to proactively address the needs of those facing food insecurity in our Arizona communities.

  • From Aug 15 – Sept 15, Curaleaf will be collecting donations at all of its retail Arizona marijuana dispensary locations — which reach as far south as Tucson, across Phoenix Metro, and as far north as Sedona — with 100% of donations going towards these local beneficiaries.

In addition, Curaleaf team members will be volunteering this month at local non-profits and food banks – not just here in Arizona, but across the entire country, and plan to match a portion of the donations as well.

⚡️

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
