Cannabis Job Opportunities Are on the Rise in Arizona

AZ Cannabis Job

A recent report from Vangst stated that in the next five years 25,000 cannabis jobs will be created in Arizona and 40,000 New Jersey.

“There are so many people who are extremely talented that have experienced job loss in the past year,” Kara Bradford of Viridian Staffing told Mjbizdaily. “We may not see a chance like this again for another 10 years to be able to get that talent over into the cannabis industry.”

Vangst also reported that the number of cannabis industry jobs has increased from approximately 120,000 in 2017 to 321,000 in Q1 2021.

“Cannabis jobs are expanding super fast. In the past three or four years, we’ve seen absolute expansion, 30% year-over-year growth in jobs being created,” said Liesl Bernard, CEO of CannabizTeam.

Arizona legalized recreational marijuana in 2021. Since then, demand for marijuana has increased across the state and led to a job boom at dispensaries.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff.
