Sol Flower Dispensaries, will participate in Operation Green Wellness, a free educational and advocacy expo presented by WeedWorks to connect Arizona veterans with cannabis education, alternative wellness resources and firsthand perspectives from fellow veterans.
The event will take place Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium, 552 N. 40th St. in Phoenix. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Following the expo, attendees will have the opportunity to join a guided bus tour from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to Sol Flower University, 2424 W. University Drive in Tempe.
Operation Green Wellness is designed to help bridge the information gap between plant medicine and the veteran community by creating a professional, welcoming environment for education and open conversation. The event is presented by Weed Works in collaboration with Sol Flower Dispensaries, Valors Veterans Community AZ, and Cannabis x America.
The program will include Cannabis 101 education and a live question-and-answer session presented by WeedWorks, guest speakers, veteran wellness resources, and a panel featuring veterans sharing their personal experiences with cannabis and other approaches to wellness.
Retired law enforcement veteran and cannabis coach Bill Meeks will share his personal journey following a 37-year career in law enforcement. The veteran panel will feature Nathan Kohlerman, a retired veteran who works with NGT Academy; Joe Warhol, Deputy Director at the Home of Record Project; Michael Kruk, Program Coordinator for Soldier’s Best Friend; and Ulises Lopez, a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran, Purple Heart recipient and Founder and Executive Director of The Aya Mission.
Following the expo, the educational experience will continue with a guided bus tour to Sol Flower University in Tempe. WeedWorks educators and Sol Flower team members will help attendees become familiar with the dispensary environment, understand different product categories and learn how to ask informed questions when exploring cannabis.
“For someone who has never visited a dispensary, simply knowing what to expect can make a meaningful difference,” said Caroline Riggs, Executive Vice President of Retail and Marketing at Copperstate Farms and Sol Flower. “We want veterans to feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Extending Operation Green Wellness to Sol Flower University gives attendees an opportunity to build on what they learned at the expo in a welcoming, real-world setting.”
Operation Green Wellness is free for veterans. Additional event and attendance information is available through the Operation Green Wellness website.
