Sonoran Roots

Industry Blazers spotlights Arizona’s talented cannabis industry professionals who influence and grow the industry.  Brought to you by a collaboration between AZmarijuana.com and Proven Media. Do you know someone that is an Industry Blazer in Arizona? If so, email us their name and contact info.

Michael O’Brien, CEO of Sonoran Roots, has been recognized as an Industry Blazer for his exceptional leadership and rapid impact in Arizona’s cannabis sector. A corporate attorney by training, O’Brien’s entry into the industry was unexpected.

He was assisting a partner with legal work when the opportunity to co-found a cannabis venture arose. Drawn by the industry’s passion, potential, and entrepreneurial energy, he pivoted from law to business and never looked back.

Under his leadership, Sonoran Roots has achieved significant milestones, including its first product sale, the acquisition of both Ponderosa Dispensary and Canamo Concentrates, and landing a coveted spot at #10 on the 2023 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

A Tempe native, O’Brien has not only helped shape the local cannabis landscape but also exemplifies the agility and vision that define true Industry Blazers.
