After 13 years, medical marijuana patients of Nevada will soon have a easy and legal way to obtain medical marijuana without having to cultivate it themselves.

Republican Gov. Sandoval signed SB374 into law this week. The measure establishes the framework to make medical marijuana available to patients. There will be strict requirements for growers and dispensaries. There will also be provisions to continue to allow home cultivation until 2016.

Any remaining revenue from dispensaries will be funneled to improve education.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
