Event

Curaleaf Arizona is bringing Tommy Chong — comedian, actor, writer, director, musician and, most notably, cannabis activist — to two of their dispensaries this weekend to meet with Arizona’s medical marijuana community.

“Tommy Chong is arguably one of the most notable figures in cannabis culture,” said Steve Cottrell, president of Curaleaf Arizona. “We’re honored and excited to bring him to Arizona and be able to give our cannabis community here these two opportunities to meet this living legend.”

Curaleaf Arizona, along with Chong’s own brand, Chong’s Choice, will be holding the first meet & greet at Curaleaf Bell (17201 N 19th Ave Phoenix, AZ 85023) on Friday, Nov 22 from 1 – 3pm and a second meet & greet at Curaleaf Midtown (2918 N Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85012) on Saturday, Nov 23 from 11am – 1pm.

While no purchase is necessary, patients who make a purchase at the dispensary on the same day — before or during the event — will receive a ticket for priority line placement, and patients who purchase Chong’s Choice will receive a ticket for VIP line placement. Mr. Chong will do his best to meet with all attendees, but these are limited time events.

200 Arizona medical marijuana patients who attend each event will be given a free limited-edition custom poster as a keepsake.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
