Arizona Marijuana
With 94% of Americans now seeking stress-busting, screen-free getaways, a new study has found that Tucson, Arizona ranks #2 in the country for rest-first vacations, or “sleep tourism.” Phoenix and Mesa ranked #11 and #12, respectively.

This rising trend, recently dubbed sleep tourism, prioritizes leisure and wellness-enhancing vacation experiences.

Among the rankings, Tucson has the highest percentage of 4+ star hotels and tied for second in average daily sun hours (10.6), giving vacationers ample opportunity to be outdoors in the sunshine. Tucson also has low light pollution and numerous walking trails.

However, the rankings forgot to mention that Tucson also has many medical and recreational cannabis dispensaries (some even deliver cannabis), which can certainly contribute to stress-free vacationing.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
