Two Tucson cannabis stores have started using kiosks for medical and recreational consumers to order marijuana products. The dispensaries will also continue to have in-person cashiers.

Moe Asnani said he has three kiosks for recreational cannabis sales and three for medical cannabis sales at his Tucson dispensaries, D2 and The Downtown. He plans on adding more soon.

“If you’re an existing patient it’s very easy,” Asnani told Kiosk Marketplace. “Because then you have done your order and it shows up in our system. It automatically matches your information to the record.”

Arizona’s marijuana law doesn’t allow cannabis to be dispensed by a vending machine, so kiosks are the next best option to expedite the ordering process.

“The most important part for us is reducing transaction time,” Asnani said.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
