NFL Marijuana

The NFL’s revenue is roughly $15 billion a year. Marijuana sales were near $10 billion in 2018 and are expected to surpass the NFL’s revenue by 2020.

More states are legalizing marijuana, which is expected to significantly and quickly boost industry sales, the New York Post reported. It’s estimated that sales could top $100 billion by 2023.

“By the end of 2023, sales of legal cannabis in the United States could exceed Americans’ collective spending on gym memberships,” said industry insider Eli McVey. “But legal sales represent just a fraction of the estimated total potential demand for cannabis in the United States, which is roughly $50 billion to $60 billion when black-market demand is included.”

In 2019, cannabis industry jobs are expected to increase 34% to between 175,000 – 215,000 employees.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
