Wine Marijuana

Decades ago vintners frequently created marijuana-infused wines to share with friends or at private gatherings. Generally, it was made with red wines and was a risky endeavor – thanks to the war on drugs.

But marijuana legalization is making marijuana-infused wines much more available to people in wine-making states like California or Oregon where an increasing number of people are making and enjoying the relaxing effects of marijuana-infused wines.

Recently, musician and marijuana activist, Melissa Etheridge, created a product line of marijuana-infused wine tinctures which are exclusively sold at the California dispensary, Greenway, in Santa Cruz. Currently, the tinctures are only available to Californians with a valid marijuana ID.

Liquor and marijuana laws in the US are strict and complex, so legally selling marijuana infused-wine at dispensaries is difficult. But marijuana laws are rapidly changing for the better which means that marijuana-infused wine could be found at dispensaries around the US in the near future.

⚡️

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
