South Dakota has become the 14th state to legalize marijuana for adults. The state also passed medical marijuana legalization.

Recreational marijuana use was legalized in South Dakota by a vote of 53% to 47%. Medical marijuana was legalized by South Dakota voters 69% to 31%.

The new law legalizes the recreational use of cannabis for individuals 21 years old and older. They can possess or distribute up to one ounce of marijuana.
