Medical Marijuana, Inc., the first-ever publicly traded cannabis company in the United States, announced that it has partnered with Peak Health to distribute the first and only hops-derived cannabidiol (CBD) product, ImmunAg.
ImmunAg is an extract of the Humulus kriya plant, which is a variety of hops. Like hemp extract, the Humulus kriya extract has a high concentration of CBD. Unlike CBD products derived from cannabis, which may contain trace amounts of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), ImmunAG contains no THC.
The Humulus kriya plant was discovered as a new source of CBD by a team of doctors looking for an alternative to cannabis. It naturally contains high levels of CBD, as well as the terpenes beta-caryophyllene and humulene. The plant was selectively bred to further increase its CBD content to create the patented extract ImmunAg.
“Medical Marijuana, Inc. is a company of firsts and we’re very proud to be the distributors of the first, and only, non-cannabis derived CBD product on the market,” said Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus. “We believe that this partnership and this Humulus-derived, non-cannabis-based product will not only provide new evidence of the benefits of CBD, but will also help people understand the value of phytoceuticals. We also look to introduce and educate people/consumers on the new concept of ‘bioactivity’ into CBD’s potential health and wellness benefits.”
Dr. Bomi Joseph of Peak Health said, “There are many places in the world that do not allow cannabis. ImmunAG is a new option for them to [legally] get CBD today. People around the globe will now have access to a product that is licensed and approved as a food ingredient.”
