Trump: “Greater Enforcement” of State-Legalized Marijuana Is Coming 🌿

Trump Marijuana

Recent rumblings from the Trump administration about “greater enforcement” against state-legalized recreational marijuana has the marijuana industry in a state of uncertainty. Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson says he and Governor Jay Inslee are prepared to defend the state if the feds choose to crackdown. The two have already sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The letter to Sessions argues the validity of Washington’s state-regulated marijuana industry, according to The Seattle Times.  Washington State stands to bring in $272 million in marijuana tax dollars this year, while the state’s law enforcement officers are able to concentrate on violent crimes.

Ferguson said, “I will resist any efforts by the Trump administration to undermine the will of the voters in Washington State.”

Sean Spicer believes that the Department of Justice will look further into recreational marijuana.

In regards to the Trump administration taking on prohibition again, Governor Inslee said, “They would be on the wrong side of history.”

Inslee believes that destroying the viable recreational marijuana industry is a fight that Trump shouldn’t want to pick. Ferguson feels that the state’s attorneys are already prepared for the fight, should it be started.  Spicer believes that greater enforcement will occur.

Ferguson said, “When he talks about ‘greater enforcement’, I take that seriously.”

Ferguson’s attorneys are those that prevailed over President Trump’s attorneys regarding the federal travel ban. He, along with dozens of industry experts, says that cracking down on states’ voter-approved recreational marijuana laws would go against Trump’s own beliefs of supporting states’ rights.
