Walmart CBD

Walmart, the largest private employer in the world, is giving serious thought to selling CBD products in its Canadian stores. The products would be shelved near other analgesics like Tylenol.

The mammoth retailer already sells hemp oil products on its website, reports The Motley Fool. The addition of CBD sold in-store would help the retailer retain more customers and, perhaps, draw in new ones.

Anika Malik, spokeswoman for Walmart Canada, said, “As we would for any new industry, Walmart Canada has done some preliminary fact-finding on this issue. But we do not have plans to carry CBD products at this time.”

Walmart is joining the ranks of other major brands like Coca-Cola by showing interest in the cannabis industry.

Who knows, maybe in a few years from now we’ll also be able to find our favorite sativa strains on a supermarket’s shelf.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
