John Malkovich to Star in New Marijuana TV Series

An upcoming television series, “Humboldt: Life on America’s Marijuana Frontier,” is based upon Emily Brady’s book, which offers a look into the progression of marijuana legalization and how it affects Humboldt county in Northern California.

John Malkovich will play the role of the Humboldt crime family patriarch. Humboldt will be pitched to streaming services and major cable networks, according to Hollywood Reporter. Brady took time to spend a year living in Humboldt where she learned about cultivating and selling marijuana.

Malkovich holds a second role as an executive producer for the television drama series. Sony Pictures Television and Anonymous Content will complete the project.
