As of Jan 2011, the state released a sub-standard regulation on doctors approving Medical Marijuana. In a nutshell, these are the conditions you must declare in order to receive a license.

IF YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION IS NOT LISTED HERE – THE STATE OF ARIZONA WILL NOT APPROVE YOUR APPLICATION

Keep this in mind: 20,000 Arizona residents have been approved for Medical Cannabis as of Feb 2012. 89% had “Chronic Pain,” listed as their primary Qualifying Condition. Got a serious health issue that causes CHRONIC PAIN? Then you can apply for a Medical Marijuana License in Arizona, because chronic pain is a qualifying condition.

Ok. Well I’m in pain, but what the hell is Chronic Pain?
Chronic pain is pain that has lasted a long time. Typically, doesn’t go away either. Chronic pain is uncomfortable health issues that are persistent and have been documented in the past or recent blunt trauma can also be considered chronic pain. In reality, chronic pain is in the eye of the beholder. It is a judgement call and most M.D.’s are smart enough to know if you are suffering or not.

There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
