Cannabis business certificate programs are now being offered at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

UArizona is partnering with marijuana education company Green Flower to offer the non-credit programs designed to help prepare the workforce for the state’s legalized medical and recreational marijuana industries.

Programs include the Business of Cannabis, Cannabis Law and Policy and Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine. Each certificate includes three eight-week online courses that take six months to complete.

“We are delighted to partner with Green Flower to help learners gain skills necessary to be a professional in the burgeoning cannabis industry,” said Craig Wilson, UArizona vice provost for online, distance and continuing education said in a statement. “Understanding multiple viewpoints like business, law and policy, and health care and medicine as it relates to the cannabis industry will help our learners establish a solid foundation.”

UArizona’s cannabis certificate programs cost around $2,950, and discounts of $500 are available for early registrants.

⚡️

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
