Starting Dec 1, 2019, Arizona medical marijuana patient cards will be issued in electronic form and not as a physical card. The new digital cards will be issued to new patients as well as patients renewing their card.
The Arizona Department of Health Services will email these patients a PDF document of their card. Patients and caregivers can update their email on file by visiting AZHDS.gov.
“AZDHS will email patients of the change to how cards are issued” and “information will be available to follow up with the new process,” the Dept of Health Services said. “The website will be updated with information soon.”
Arizona medical cannabis patients will no longer have to carry a physical card with them. Instead, patients only need to have access to their digital card via their email or a screenshot of the digital card. If patients prefer having a physical card they can simply print the digital card.
“This new process is making it easier for patients to update or change information when necessary too,” said the AZDHS. “The digital cards can be accessed from a cell phone, laptop or any other digital device with Internet access.”
As of late August, Arizona medical marijuana cards became valid for two years instead of one. Caregiver and dispensary agent cards also became valid for 2 years.
The AZDHS will be sending the new electronic medical marijuana cards from the email address: AZMedicalMarijuana@azdhs.gov.
