Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is a condition characterized by repeated episodes of nausea and vomiting in individuals who use cannabis regularly. Although CHS is believed to be linked to long-term, frequent cannabis use, much about the condition remains unknown, and not many people are aware of it. Standard treatments for nausea often do not alleviate CHS symptoms, and some individuals with CHS report temporary relief from nausea by taking hot showers or baths.
UCI Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine, is conducting an online survey to gain a better understanding of CHS, identify common symptoms, and analyze cannabis use patterns to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing CHS earlier and developing more effective treatment plans.

The Arizona Dispensaries Association (ADA) supports such initiatives, stating, “As cannabis becomes more widely accepted and used, it’s critical to conduct thorough medical studies on conditions like CHS to provide patients with the care and solutions they deserve.”
