Alien Labs Arizona

Connected Cannabis Co., a premier cannabis cultivator, and its partner brand, Alien Labs, have received four first-place wins in the 2021 High Times Cannabis Cup Arizona: People’s Choice Edition across the Sativa flower, Hybrid flower, Indica flower and Preroll categories.

Cannabis Cup Arizona 2021 is the first award of its kind open to and judged by Arizona adults ages 21 and over. A total of 1,400 judges submitted scores and feedback for 120 entries across eight categories. Exclusive strains bred and cultivated by Connected Cannabis and Alien Labs swept all four Cannabis Cup flower categories:

  • 1st place Sativa flower: Alien Labs – Melonade
  • 1st place Hybrid flower: Connected – Gushers
  • 1st place Indica flower: Alien Labs – Kryptochronic
  • 1st place preroll: Alien Labs – Gelato 41

A Connected partner since 2017, Alien Labs was founded in California by second-generation cannabis cultivator Ted Lidie. The brand is known today for its portfolio of unique, top-shelf strains and upscale merchandise rooted in streetwear design.

“We’re proud to receive top honors across all flower categories in the cannabis industry’s most competitive product awards for Arizona,” said Sam Ghods, CEO of Connected. “Our first-place rankings in Cannabis Cup Arizona are a testament not only to the success of our complex breeding program and premium genetics portfolio, but also our ability to cultivate quality cannabis at scale.”

California-based Connected launched its products in Arizona in November 2020 following the completion of its indoor grow facility in Phoenix, where it cultivates both Connected and Alien Labs strains. Having built a national following, the brand’s first expansion has seen monumental success in recreational cannabis sales with customers lining out the door for each new product drop.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
