Arizona lawmakers recently passed a new medical marijuana related law. The new law enforces strict labeling regulations on the packaging of medical marijuana edibles.

The new law states that labeling can only consist of a white background with black text.

Rep. Kimberly Yee, R-Phoenix, said she saw marijuana infused products being produced that appeared similar to over-the-counter brand names.

As of now, Green Halo Dispensary is the only dispensary with an Arizona Department of Health Services-approved Infusion Kitchen, which allows them to legally produce marijuana edibles for Arizona.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
