Marijuana Dispensary

Medical marijuana dispensaries have been deemed essential during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic because they sell medicine. And many states are also allowing for adult-use marijuana sales to continue.

Just as liquor stores are being deemed essential throughout states across America, some states are also allowing recreational marijuana dispensaries to remain open, The Motley Fool reported.

Marijuana can help people cope with anxiety and depression, which are spreading across the nation as fast as COVID-19. For this reason, 8 states have decided to keep their recreational cannabis dispensaries open during the outbreak.

  • Alaska
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Michigan
  • Nevada
  • Oregon
  • Washington

Almost every state in the nation has implemented a “stay-at-home” order to keep residents from spreading the virus. As of now, April 30 is the last day for most states’ at-home lockdowns. It is presumed that all medical and recreational dispensaries will remain open during the entire lockdown period.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
