Senator Cory Booker has thrown his hat into the ring of presidential candidates in 2020. Following the announcement, the Booker called for marijuana legalization and criminal justice reform.
Booker has highlighted the racial disparity of the criminal justice system when it comes to marijuana laws, Business Insider reports. He claims that African Americans are 4-times more likely to be arrested for marijuana than Caucasians.
Booker said, “It means changing our drug laws. Ending prohibition against marijuana.”
It’s expected that Booker’s campaign will be an interesting and eventful one to watch as he will continue to advocate for a federal end to marijuana prohibition.
