COVID Arizona
On April 7, Nature’s Medicines will host a pop-up, drive thru Covid-19 vaccination clinic from 3:30PM – 7:30PM at 2439 W. McDowell Rd, Phoenix. Partnering with Dr. Ashwin Patel (Urgent Care of AZ), the dispensary chain is offering no-cost Moderna vaccinations to its employees and community members who are over the age of 18.

“Our hope is that this event will help protect our employees and surrounding community from the severe and sometimes fatal effects of COVID-19. We also hope we can serve as a role model for other businesses to host pop-up vaccination events like ours,” said Jigar Patel, CEO.

Dr. Ashwin Patel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine/Primary Care. Dr. Patel has been practicing in Phoenix for over 18 years. He completed his residency from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a member of Maricopa County Medical Society and Arizona State Physician’s Association.

According to Patient Care Advocate, Sheena Williams, there will be a check-in station to determine eligibility. Eligible people will move through several additional stations with a required wait after they have received their vaccination. A follow-up event for the second round of the two-part vaccination will take place 21 days later. This will be a drive through experience like how the various Corona Vaccine PODs are managed across town.

“By establishing and supporting best practices, Nature’s Medicines and other employers can increase vaccine uptake,” said Patel. “It’s our top priority to promote confidence in the decision to get vaccinated by providing a no cost, convenient process to our employees and community.”

To make a vaccination appointment, individuals from the community are advised to go to the McDowell location to get required forms to complete.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
