TASC Phoenix Marijuana

Treatment Assessment Screening Center (TASC) is a Phoenix-headquartered drug treatment facility licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) that received negative publicity in late 2016 for their questionable relationship (giving millions of dollars in referral fees) to Maricopa County attorney Bill Montgomery’s office.

Since then, TASC has closed its infamous Phoenix treatment center on the corner of 7th St. and Oak, and now the Arizona medical marijuana industry information portal, AZmarijuana.com, is attempting to lease the building for its new headquarters.

The demise of an anti-marijuana facility just may help advance a marijuana industry company… the irony is euphoric. As Bob would say, “The times they are a changin’.”

This trend of blooming U.S. marijuana companies will continue because science has proven that marijuana has numerous medicinal benefits for humans and animals. Also because, time, and a plethora of statistics, have confirmed that the War on Drugs is ineffective. Accordingly, Portugal legalized all drugs (yes, all drugs) in 2001, and has since discovered that the education and legalization of drugs are highly effective at reducing drug use and abuse.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
