Proposition 207, which legalized recreational marijuana use for adults in Arizona, launched in early 2021. At that time, Arizona dispensaries began selling adult-use cannabis.
Medical marijuana sales have continue to thrive alongside adult-use sales. This is probably because there is a 16% excise tax applied only to recreational sales at dispensaries, which means that medical marijuana patients save 16% when buying marijuana from dispensaries.
