Thanks to the Marijuana Policy Project, we have this short video about the “MPP’s Worst Legislators of 2013 on Marijuana Policy.” One of Arizona’s own made the list – Rep. John Kavanagh. He made the list for repeatedly fighting the voter-approved Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, and then going on to (falsely) state that “no medical authority” would ever agree that marijuana has legitimate medical benefits. Well Mr. Kavahagh, it appears you’re wrong!… on many accounts.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
