Arizona Marijuana

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has released a report with Arizona marijuana industry statistics for the first quarter of 2014.

The report reveals transaction data from active medical marijuana patients (cardholders) in Arizona.

In summary, the report highlights that there are currently just over 48,000 medical marijuana patients, and 70% of them are males. The majority of those males are within two age brackets: 18 – 30 and 51 – 60 years of age. The biggest purchasers of medical marijuana are patients in the 18 – 30 year old bracket.

The data also reveals, not too surprisingly, that Fridays are when most medical marijuana transactions occur.

⚡️

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
