Cannabis Plastic

Curaleaf, a leading provider of consumer products in cannabis, has partnered with Phoenix, Arizona based recycling company, Resinate, to launch a statewide cannabis packaging recycling program.

Resinate’s plastic recycling collection barrels are now available at all Curaleaf AZ dispensaries. Customers can drop off their used plastic packaging in exchange for rewards. A portion of these recycled materials are then used to create recyclable plastic rolling trays known as The Twisted Tray.

Since April 2022, Curaleaf AZ has recycled over 600 lbs of plastic, which equates to approximately 25,000 containers saved from landfills and utilized in the state’s local economy. These are the monthly stats:

– August 2022: 11,350 containers saved from landfills & ecosystems, 227lbs of plastic recycled

– July 2022: 9,250 containers saved from landfills & ecosystems, 185lbs of plastic recycled

– June 2022: 9,350 containers saved from landfills & ecosystems, 187lbs of plastic recycled

– April 2022: 1,050 containers saved from landfills & ecosystems, 21lbs of plastic recycled

State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
