Arizona Natural Selections Dispensary

The Peoria City Council has approved proposals to allow two new medical marijuana dispensaries in the city. Both new dispensaries will be located within just a couple miles of Arizona Natural Selections, the only dispensary currently operating in Peoria. All three of the dispensaries will be in a two-mile stretch near 91st Ave between Peoria Ave and Northern Ave.

The City Council upheld the decision to allow Bloom Dispensaries and Saguaro Sky Medical Marijuana Dispensary in this small vicinity with a 7 to 1 vote, according to AZ Central. The dispensaries are expected to open in ea

The addresses of the two new Peoria medical marijuana dispensaries are:

  • Bloom Dispensaries at 8970 N. 91st Avenue
  • Saguaro Sky Medical Marijuana Dispensary at 9240 W. Northern Avenue.

Statutes are not in place in Peoria to limit the number of dispensaries allowed per district.

“I’m not against having dispensaries, but all in the same area, I am against. There’s too many in one area, in my opinion,” said Freida Busaid, who was against the proposals.

Peoria regulations requires that dispensaries be a minimum of ½ mile from each other. They must also be no less than 1,000-feet from liquor stores, bars, day care centers, schools, and at least 500-feet from zoned residential properties.

Chris Jacques, Planning Director for the City of Peoria, speculates that patient demand influenced the need for additional dispensaries within the city.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
