Recreational Marijuana Law

The Green Rush is sweeping across America, and it appears a few more states will be swept up by the burgeoning recreational marijuana industry this year.

More than two-thirds of the states in America have given the green light to medical cannabis, and 18 of them already have existing or pending legislation that allows for the adult use of cannabis, The Motley Fool reported.

The next states that are the most likely to legalize marijuana are:

  • Connecticut
  • Minnesota
  • Hawaii

A majority of Americans want marijuana legalized for recreational use, according to a recent nationwide poll by CBS.

Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use in November 2020. The law allows adults aged 21+ to purchase, possess and use cannabis. State-licensed cannabis dispensaries began selling recreational marijuana in early 2021. There are over 150 dispensaries in Arizona — a majority of them are in populous areas such as Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff. Recreational cannabis delivery services began operating in 2024.
